Textiles in Thai Coronation
King Rama X of the Chakri Dynasty has authorized that his coronation is to take place during 4 – 6 May 2019 in accordance with our ancient tradition in order to establish this important milestone of the reign, and as an auspicious occasion for the kingdom.
For this very special event, the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles organizes an exhibition to honor His Majesty and to disseminate knowledge and understanding on the coronation as well as the fabrics and apparel used in the occasion for those who are interested in this rarely seen traditional Thai customs as it has been 69 years since last such event, the coronation of King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Rama IX.
