The wisdom of "Mor Hom" textiles
Indigo-dyed textiles from northern Thailand are known in the local language as mor hom, a name derived from hom, a shrub in the indigo family. Following traditional methods, local dyers ferment hom stems and leaves to create a natural blue dye for white cotton.
November’s program focused on these famous indigo-dyed textiles, which few people know how to create. Our presenter, Mr.Wuttikrai Kaewwanna, owner of Kaewwanna Boutique in Phrae province, explained and demonstrated the dyeing process. Following the demonstration, participants had a chance to create their own mor hom textile.
