QSMT Festival: Open House 2014
The Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles invites you to celebrate our second anniversary with a Festival and Open House.
The Festival will feature demonstrations of silk reeling, weaving, beetle-wing and silk thread embroidery, handicrafts from the Royal Vocational College for Women and the Royal Craftsmen School, and traditional dances from the four regions of Thailand. Daily programming will also include seminars on indigenous textiles with Paothong Thongchua, Prapassorn Posrithong and Dr. Anucha Thirakanont; and contemporary textile and fashion design with Kullawit Laosuksri, editor-in-chief of Vogue Thailand, and leading Thai designers including Milin, Wannasiri Kongman of Boyy Bag, Siriorn Tienprasit of Painkiller, and Ek Thongprasert. Advance registration is encouraged as seating is limited; presentations will be in Thai only. Visitors will also find a wide variety of products from the SUPPORT Foundation available in the Museum Shop and can enjoy regional Thai cuisine from the Royal Farm Project.
The Open House features exclusive tours behind-the-scenes at the QSMT, led by staff conservators and registrars (advance registration required), in addition to access to the galleries. All Festival activities free of charge.
