The Drawing Of Khon Masks
Khon is one of Thailand’s oldest narrative dance forms and was once considered the most spectacular of all royal performances.
However, by the end of the 20th century, it had declined in popularity. Her Majesty Queen Sirikit was determined to revive the form and promote Khon performance; this, of course, included a revival of Khon costuming. Her initiative has led to a tremendous upsurge in Khon’s popularity and renown.
Following Her Majesty’s initiative, the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles invites you to participate in a workshop entitled “The Drawing of Khon Masks”, led by members of the Royal Craftsmen School. All participants will learn how to draw their own masks based on the characters in the Ramakien epic. The workshop will be conducted in Thai.
The workshop will be on Saturday August 27, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4.00 pm at QSMT’s auditorium. The fee is 350 THB per person. Attendance is limited to 40 participants
